Sock Wars V... a productive day 2

16. January 2010 21:30 by Jobo | 2 Comments

After last night, and being so frustrated wondering if I had chosen the wrong pattern... I gave in this morning and frogged the cuff and bit I had started and cast on a different pattern - this time "Don't Box me In" by Helen Waittes.  In the end I'm really pleased that I did, because as much as I had lost some time last night working on the other pattern, it seems this "lacey" one is much more my style.  I am a very slow ribbing knitter... going back and forth between knit and purl is a tedious task for me (a "thrower")  and the new pattern I chose is mostly in Knit stitches, with the odd ssk, k2tog and YO.  I have much more experience with those than I do with ribbing, which is likely my own fault.  I really should challenge myself to learn how to do better at switching between Knit and Purl, but I don't think an international Knitting Speed Contest is the place to torture myself ;)

The little eyelets formed in diamond formation kind of remind me of four leafed clovers... but believe me when I say - they won't bring good luck for my Target  until AFTER she gets to wear them around for a bit!  Mwa ha ha.... they are more Lucky for ME!  (Pinky, are you thinking what I'm thinking?  Yeah, but how do we get the chickens to wear suspenders?  Forget about that... LETS TAKE OVER THE WORLD... HEHEH EHEHEHEHEHEEEE)

Now that sock #1 is completed, I am going out to hang out with friends for a well deserved evening out.  What with the house showing today, all of the cleaning/tidying, fretting, I think a night out is just what I need to recover and get set for another full day of knitting adventures tomorrow.  I may need to soak my hands after this... I seriously have blisters on one finger where I use it to help guide the needles.

This second photo is more representative of the true color... a nice medium kettle dyed blue... the color of TEARS perhaps?  maybe a preview of the reaction my Target will have when she sees her lovely death socks in the mailbox?  lol.  I still haven't heard back from her, maybe she doesn't want to know anything about her upcoming demise?  (Sorry target, dear, love ya, but you GOTTA GO!)

Happy Knitting All ;)
