Some weeks it is harder than others to choose a new yarn for Yarn Candy Monday... this week was a challenging one for me. Since I recently finished unpacking the studio - here are a few Studio Photos :) It's really nice to finally have all of my stuff out of the boxes and be able to just walk in and use whatever item I want!
The "Studio" is actually just a bedroom... with a nice big window and some dedicated space. What's great about that though, is that I can go to "my room" and play and make messes, and then just shut the door and go back to the rest of the house and nothing is in the way. It is very freeing to just have a creative space where I can go and play with fiber/fabric/paint/etc.
I have lots of shelves and little organizers... places to store little notions, canisters for needles, boxes and totes to display the goodies in, and all sorts of relative junk and treasures. I have room to spin, a sewing station, paints and brushes, oodles of books for inspiration, and bright colors all around.
In this room... my sewing machine stays set up all the time. If inspiration strikes, I can sit, cut, sew, and create without having to set anything up first. I hemmed a few pairs of pants yesterday, and while the measuring and pinning was an annoyingly long process, the sewing part was a breeze. All I had to do was plug her in, choose the bobbin, thread her up and sew the hems. I was able to do 3 different pairs with 3 different colors of thread in about 15 minutes. (I won't tell you how long it took to get the pants washed, measured and pinned... it's disgraceful really)

I keep the pretty yarns out on a shelf where I can see them everyday :) Notice I didn't show the closet? It's full. of. yarn. I have too much yarn and raw fiber to display all of it, but I have it carefully wrapped and boxed in the closet... just waiting for the right project!

I also keep little baskets of Works-in-Progress and Projects I need to finish or start... I find I need a visual motivator to get moving sometimes!
I hope you enjoyed seeing my little creative space :)
